Pocono Organics Partners with Organizations to Aid Area Families

Steadfast in the mission of encouraging healthy eating education and to evolve existing food assistance opportunities, Pocono Organics joined forces with Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation May 26, 2022, presenting four area families with memberships in the Long Pond organic farm’s Community Supported Agriculture [CSA] program.

Community Supported Agriculture membership is prepared with an invitation for neighbors in the community to join in prior to Pocono Organics’ growing season. Once membership signup is completed, fees are then used for seeds and supplies resulting in farmhands harvesting nutrient-dense produce for members. New for 2022, this community partnership has truly evolved with the farm inviting area organizations, like Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation, to sponsor family card memberships.

With help from Pocono Mountain School District’s Tobyhanna Elementary Center to determine eligibility, each family (who remain anonymous) selected will receive their own Community Supported Agriculture card to use weekly starting June 17th thru October 14th2022. Cards enable members to visit Pocono Organics weekly and shop for a variety of nutritious market items with a minimum of 3 mix/match Farm Fresh CSA produce picks required in the purchase per week based upon membership card balance.

Calling the contribution beneficial, “Giving our students the healthy foods that they need to become strong and productive citizens in our community,” Tobyhanna Elementary Center Principal Dr. Anastasia D’Angelo thanked both Pocono Organics and Pocono Mountain Regional Police Foundation.

Adding, “This opportunity is every family’s dream to be able to provide these excellent products to their children on a regular basis throughout the summer months.”
